Here, you follow in the footsteps of Napoleon and come face to face with rays and sharks. This most exciting fortress in the Netherlands is 15 kilometres from Callantsoog. Furthermore, Callantsoog is the perfect starting point for lovely cycle rides through the dunes, for example to Julianadorp aan Zee, Den Helder, Bergen aan Zee, Schoorl or Texel. You can hire bikes with or without a child bike seat at reception.Bulb fieldsThe bulb fields around Callantsoog are in bloom from mid-April to mid-May. That makes a holiday at this location extra special. The bulb fields are not only a treat for the eyes, but the fields where the hyacinths bloom also smell wonderful. You can enjoy your holiday at this park with your own camping equipment, but there are also several accommodation choices. You can, for example, sleep in a luxurious safari tent, a comfortable bungalow or a chalet. The camping pitches and rental accommodation are located in the forest and close to the recreational lake. Drenthe is the province of the dolmen burial tombs and the Dolmen Center is less than 3 kilometres from the holiday park. There is also plenty of beautiful countryside. Drouwenerzand nature reserve is 7 kilometres from the park and here you can take the most beautiful walks across the heathland. The amusement park of the same name, suitable for young children, is also close by. The Tree Top Walk (Boomkroonpad) is recommended if you are not afraid of heights. Here, you spend the night at one of southernmost points of the Netherlands. That means you stay only a few kilometres from the German and Belgian borders. You have the chance to stand in three countries at the same time on the Three Country Point in Vaals (16 km). Or you can go on challenging cycling trips through the stunning landscape. The great cities of Maastricht (17 km), Luik (36 km) and Aken (19 km) are also close by. Perfect for a day out!In the hills of LimburgEverything is new at this holiday park. You see that straight away as you drive onto the site. The reception is brand-new and modern. Walk inside to register and take a look. The park is built against one of the Limburg hills. Very few cars are permitted. That makes it a perfect holiday destination for families with children of all ages. The park does not have its own pool, but Mosaqua subtropical leisure pool is a few minutes' drive away (2.5 km).Time for pizza nightBesides the Roompot Gulpen main building, there is a great playground for children. There is also a fabulous programme of activities, so that they will enjoy themselves throughout the holiday. The park has a mini-market, a laundry, a charging station for electric cars, bike hire and e-chopper hire. From The Dill restaurant you have a beautiful view of the hills. The menu changes according to the season as is organic as far as possible. You can also take away dishes and it is pizza night on Fridays!Modern and new accommodationLike the rest of the park, the accommodation is modern and new. The accommodation is spread through the landscape. Some are between trees and others against a hill. Many of the hillside and hilltop lodges offer beautiful views of the hills. Various lodges are on ground level but there are also brilliant Tree House accommodations with a roof terrace.Shopping in MaastrichtWalking and cycling through the Limburg hills is always a good idea. Yet, there is also plenty for families with children to do in the surrounding area. You can even easily travel around the world. How? Visit the World Gardens of Mondo Verde in Landgraaf and Gaia Zoo in Kerkrade. But there is even more fun to be had with the children. In Heerlen, there is the Kinderstad indoor amusement park and the Fairytale Forest in Valkenburg, which is great for kids up to age eight. Valkenburg and Maastricht are lovely for a day of shopping.
