This beach has a Blue Flag, which shows that the beach is clean and safe.There a lighthouse, built in the year 1833, in the dunes. In the summer it is possible to climb up the lighthouse on Fridays. Of course you can always have a day on the beach or go shopping at Egmond aan Zee. It's a bit too far to cycle but you can drive there in fifteen minutes. However, Heerhugowaard is within cycling distance and the half hour bike ride is well worth the effort. The lovely harbour town of Hoorn is also a nice place to visit. To get there will take you just over half an hour in the car.
