5. Climate Jamaica

Globally speaking, Jamaica has two seasons. The dry season, winter, runs from November to April. Summer is the wet season and runs from May to October. You can have short, heavy showers in summer, usually at the end of the afternoon. From July to November is the hurricane season. Occasionally Jamaica is hit by a tropical storm during this season.

6. Transport on Jamaica

7.1. White Witch of Rose Hall

7.5. Dunn's River Falls

In the North of Jamaica, near the town of Ocho Rios you will find the Dunn´s River Falls. These terraced waterfalls alternate small lagoons with vertically descending waterfalls. Geologists describe the Dunn's River Falls as a living phenomenon. The waterfalls are one of the few in the world with calcium carbonate deposits that flow directly into the sea. They drain into the Caribbean Sea near an attractive white sandy beach. Here you can enjoy the sun, the beach and the sea after a visit to the waterfalls. And a spectacular view of the waterfalls.

7.6. Dolphin cove Ocho Rios

In the north of Jamaica, less than a 10 minute walk from Dunn's River Falls, you will find Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios. Here you can meet dolphins. This beach is located on the north coast of Jamaica about 16 kilometers from the city of Ocho Rios. It may have lost some of its former glory, but it's still highly recommended if you're looking for a place to relax.

James Bond Beach is surrounded by crystal clear water on 3 sides. And you have a view of the mountains of St. Mary in the middle of the sea. By the way, you will find a bar and restaurant at this beach, so you can also enjoy a nice meal during your visit here. The only link with James Bond is that in the bar there are bamboo paintings with the names of the movies. The beach is also known as Laughing Waters Beach and Roaring River Beach.

7.10. Blue Mountains

The largest mountain range in Jamaica is called Blue Mountains. It is a beautiful nature reserve with the Blue Mountain Peak as its highest point at over 2250 meters. On a cloudless, clear day you can see Cuba from this area. You can visit the Blue Mountains with a day trip or a multi-day excursion, for example from Kingston. The area is also known for the Blue Mountain coffee that is produced on the lower slopes. So do not forget to make a visit to a coffee plantation. When you arrive at the Blue Lagoon in Port Antonio, the surroundings may look familiar to you. This is not surprising because this is the place where the movie 'The Blue Lagoon' was shot. The lagoon owes its name to the film. Enjoy the shimmering turquoise blue water surrounded by lush greenery.

In the southern tip of Jamaica you'll find Reach Falls. Don't forget to bring your swimwear, water shoes and a towel when you visit this waterfall. Reach Falls is located in Montane Forrest on the John Crow Mountain Range. The waterfall flows over a cliff in an emerald river. The combination of the lush greenery of the area and the refreshing water under the waterfall will make your visit to Reach Falls an unforgettable experience.
