Just a few kilometres away is the artists' village of Bergen, known for its galleries, museums and bustling terraces. For a day out on the town, Alkmaar is within easy reach, with its historic town centre, canals and famous cheese market. Beach lovers can go to Hargen aan Zee or Camperduin, where the unique lagoon is a special place for relaxing by the water. Nearby are also several polders and nature reserves where bird watching and boating are among the possibilities.
