Charming little fishing village, very suitable as a starting point for a visit to the islands of Ré and Aix. Located between the historic and tourist towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort. Châtelaillon and its surroundings are very good to explore by bike.

Parkland grounds around an old castleThe word 'park' in Camping Séquioa Parc is very appropriate: the five-star campsite is situated on 45 hectares of parkland with woods and fields of sunflowers around an old castle. The castle itself and the outbuildings are a part of the campsite amenities.Authentic FranceThe Charente Maritime is situated on the west coast of France. Possibly not the most well-known holiday region, but that's definitely undeserved. It is a region with something for everyone: the campsite is located just 5 km from the Atlantic coast, by the beach at Marennes and just south of Rochefort and La Rochelle. The Charente is also a region of old fishing villages, oyster farms and culinary delights. Cognac comes from this region.Spectacular water park in castle settingIt is difficult to say what makes Camping Séquioa Parc so great: is it the stately castle, or the lovely swimming complex with its spectacular slides? 3 of the 4 swimming pools are heated! Swimwear such as long shorts, Bermuda shorts and T shirts are not allowed in the swimming pool.Wellness and fitnessThis French campsite is a real paradise for children, full of activity and fun. A children's club is available throughout the campsite's opening season. To celebrate the campsite's 20th birthday in 2017, Sequoia Parc opened a beautiful wellness and fitness centre: 'Les Brises' offers many opportunities for sportive activity or quiet relaxation.Sunny islandsThe surrounding area is variable and attractive. Just off the coast are the four islands of Oléron, Ré, Aix and Madame. The two biggest, Ile-de-Oléron and Ile-de-Ré can be reached by car over a dike. Make your way to the French island Île de Ré for a holiday full of sun, sea and sand. Also for a holiday where you can enjoy an extensive programme of entertainment for the whole family, evening entertainment and all kinds of sports activities. You can experience it all at Camping Sandaya Amis de la Plage. Fun in the water for everyoneYou cannot swim on the campsite itself, but you don’t need to, because you can walk quickly to the beach which stretches for many kilometres, and to the sea where you can swim, fish or windsurf for hours. If you’re not a fan of sea water, take a look at the swimming pool right next to the campsite. The beach near the campsite is covered in fine sand which is wonderfully soft to lie on. Spread out your towel and sunbathe! Be careful where you lie down, quite often there is a game of beach volleyball in progress. Make holiday friendsChildren are treated like royalty at Camping Sandaya Amis de la Plage. Three different clubs (for toddlers, slightly older children and teenagers) mean there is entertainment for almost everyone. Take a look at how the children make friends while building things, playing sports and dancing. If it’s sports for all ages you are looking for, play a round of jeu de boules or table tennis, and decide once and for all who is the best in the family! The campsite has a small shop with fresh bread and certain provisions. For the rest of your shopping you can walk to the village of Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, and you can be in the centre within fifteen minutes. There are lovely small shops and restaurants here which you can take a look at. Cycle to picturesque villagesÎle de Ré is a great island for cycling. Give the car a rest and jump on your bike for a lovely trip. There are two unusual places on the island; La Flotte (twenty minutes cycling) and Ars-en-Ré (three quatres of an hour by bike). They are justifiably both on the ‘Loveliest Villages in France’ list. La Flotte is a village in the east of the island and has a lovely fishing and yacht harbour. There is also a pier dating from 1840. Explore the flower displays in the centre and stroll through the daily market to find something tasty.Ars-en-Ré is on the west coast of the island and also has a lovely harbour. The church and clock tower are also worth visiting. Ars-en-Ré is renowned for its many oyster farms, and you can see how this delicacy is cultivated. You might even decide to try a really fresh portion in the evening. If you prefer a hamburger and fries, you can order that in one of the restaurants!
