This reservoir was constructed in the 1960s. The villages in the valley were submerged, but next to the campsite there is a small island with a chapel on top of it. This chapel is all that remains of the village that once stood here. The rest has disappeared under the water. There have to be some exciting stories about that! The small town of Embrun is very attractive. This village is perched up on the rocks with views over the lake. There are several lovely old buildings here and some excellent street cafes. If you prefer the countryside, there is excellent cycling and walking here. Anyone in search of nature will find it in Park Les Écrins National Park.
