A family vacation destination in the Charente department is known as Venice of Périgord, which is famous for its butter and is the birthplace of cognac and pineau. Camping Les Gorges du Chambon is located on the edge of Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin between Limoges and Angoulême. Here, in the heart of France between Charente and Dordogne, you can relax and enjoy the countryside, the comfort, culture and gastronomy. Meet the French at a lovely market or at a typical flea market, hop on a bike for a cycling tour in the fresh air in this cycling paradise or pick some of the herbs from the herb garden at the campsite. Anything goes, but nothing is compulsory.The campsite is situated by a river, there are numerous hiking and cycling routes from the campsite and there is plenty to do for the children. The forest, paths and large playground guarantee this. In the high season, you can add a kids' club to the list, so your children will make plenty of friends during the fun games and the veritable mini disco. It is also the period when there are live concerts, barbecues, mussel evenings and other enjoyable activities. The campsite has various meeting points so that teenagers can also keep themselves entertained. Campsite Les Gorges du Chambon has a heated swimming pool which is surrounded by sun loungers.Your host and hostess will not only ensure you are given a warm welcome, they also provide a real holiday feelin excellent facilities, great tips for day trips and an excellent restaurant and bar. The restaurant has a large heated room and a patio with a wonderful view over the valley. You can ask your hosts all about the campsite, the area, where to find good restaurants and about the recreational and sporting activities. You can also hire all sorts of things; from practical items such as a fridge or baby package to a mountain bike or canoe. A campsite shop means you have a place to go for those groceries you forgot. Seven kilometres away in the village of Montbron, you will find all you need for a more extensive shop. You can do various activities in the nearby vicinity, such as horse riding, tree climbing, golf, quad driving, stand-up paddling and geocaching. Interesting cities to visit include Brantôme, Cognac, the lovely Périgueux and the comic city of Angoulême.

During your dinner you will enjoy a beautiful view over the valley. Perhaps you will have a cognac at the end of your meal. The Charente is famous for this. Want to cook for yourself? You can go to the campsite shop for smaller groceries. There is a supermarket in the village of Montbron (7 km) for more extensive shopping..The Venice of the Périgord.After all the sporting activities you might fancy a day of culture. You don't have to go far. The Château de la Rochefoucauld (20 km) is half an hour's drive away. This castle was already being built in the Middle Ages. To visit a beautiful city, go to Brantôme. This place is also called the Venice of the Périgord. Here you can take a boat trip on the river Dronne. An hour's drive from the campsite is the Cornille Aventure park. Here you can tree climb, play mini-golf and play laser tag outdoors. Your kids will appreciate a day out like this.
