The bistro where you will be staying is the place for entertainment, and there are also a few houses, a church, and a sports/playing field. The surroundings are characterized by dense forests where you can spot birds of prey, boar, and deer. Walkers have many beautiful routes to choose from.Just under 15 km away is the Nerother Kopf, on top of which (about 640 m) you will find a castle ruin and a cave. The cave was created because volcanic rock was cut away to make millstones. Quite a climb but well worth it.The volcanic lakes this part of the Eifel is famous for are also nearby. For example, visit the Meerfeldermaar. Here, you can see its geological history and swim when the weather is good. Afterward, you can head toward Manderscheid to explore its two castles. The ski area is clear and has plenty of easy runs. There are excellent practice slopes, ski schools with playing fields and treadmills. This makes this ski area very popular with families with children. Want to spend a day skiing somewhere else? The Gasteinertal or the Hochkönig region are nearby.In the other seasons, nature lovers or active holidaymakers are sure to find what they are looking for here too. Located in a narrow green valley, Rauris is surrounded by mountains belonging to the National Park Hohe Tauern. Within 30 minutes you can reach the famous Kaprun glacier.
