An extensive network of cycling and walking paths can be found in the surrounding area. Enjoy the beautiful natural areas Drenthe has to offer. Four kilometres south of the village is the Takkenhoogte, a beautiful heathland area on the northern flank of the Reest valley. A marked walking route of 4.5 kilometres runs through the area of the Takkenhoogte and the Meeuwenveen. The gardens of Mien Ruys are within cycling distance, as are the Priona gardens and those of the Lazy Gardener. Need something different for a day? Meppel and Hoogeveen are within easy reach, nice to visit. At minimum of 26 degrees, this is the warmest pool in the Netherlands, so there's no need to cautiously put one toe in the water.Gnomes route for the youngestThe campsite organises a gnomes' route for children from 4 to 10 years. This treasure hunt, which lasts an hour and a half, is full of educational challenges. True to fashion, you will be given a pointed hat, a beard and a rucksack. Now and again you will meet a gnome with a blue pointed hat on his head. And you guessed it: you have to complete a task. Good luck!
