Young children can play all day long in the sand and water, and they will be expert sandcastle builders by the end of their holiday. Meanwhile you can keep an eye on them from the terrace; you are on holiday as well.Pony ridingThe Drenthe countryside is one big playground! Take part in great activities such as building huts, canoeing in the Weerribben-Wieden or a mountain bike clinic. Or visit the children's farm and stroke the ponies. The Weerribben-Wieden National Park is the same distance. This wetlands area is great for canoeing or you can visit the unique town of Giethoorn. You are just a half hour drive from Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen or at the entrance to Slagharen Amusement Park.

Tours are organised in summer to spot deer in the surrounding area, so take your binoculars and hope for the best…Even more adventureIf the petting zoo on the campsite gives you a taste for more, a visit to Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen is a good idea. You can go on a real safari here and meet all sorts of wild animals. If you want even more fun in the water, you should go to the outdoor swimming pool in Ruinen. At minimum of 26 degrees, this is the warmest pool in the Netherlands, so there's no need to cautiously put one toe in the water.Gnomes route for the youngestThe campsite organises a gnomes' route for children from 4 to 10 years. This treasure hunt, which lasts an hour and a half, is full of educational challenges. True to fashion, you will be given a pointed hat, a beard and a rucksack. Now and again you will meet a gnome with a blue pointed hat on his head. And you guessed it: you have to complete a task. Good luck!

A lovely flat in a beautifully quiet spot. The ground-floor flat is ideal for peace seekers and nature lovers. You are in the middle of the Drentse countryside, a good starting point for long walks or to enjoy the peace and quiet on the terrace. The flat is built against the house of the very friendly owners, so you stay on the same property as the owner, each with their own entrance. There is a large, natural garden, with a stork post'Vrijzicht' is located at the edge of the village, with unobstructed views over the fields and meadows around. An extensive network of cycling and walking paths can be found in the surrounding area. Enjoy the beautiful natural areas Drenthe has to offer. Four kilometres south of the village is the Takkenhoogte, a beautiful heathland area on the northern flank of the Reest valley. A marked walking route of 4.5 kilometres runs through the area of the Takkenhoogte and the Meeuwenveen. The gardens of Mien Ruys are within cycling distance, as are the Priona gardens and those of the Lazy Gardener. Need something different for a day? Meppel and Hoogeveen are within easy reach, nice to visit.
